Today, I decided that I'm going to blog everyday during my trip to Philippines, during which you will all miss me, dearly. Okay, I lied. I came up with this idea on Monday. I will be gone on my odyssey to Philippines for three, long weeks. This will be the last time I will vacation in Philippines...for a long, long time since it's expensive and my brother and I will going to college at the same time. So I had this brilliant idea to keep a blog, which serves as a journal, about everything I do in Philippines. It also serves as an excuse to be on the Internet while on vacation (hopefully, I'll have access to the Internet) instead of meeting and greeting my extended family whom I never knew. ;) And maybe you'll learn something about my culture and all the crazy things we like to do or eat or listen to. And it's nice to keep this so I'll remember this trip for a long time.
So what will happen is every night, I will steal my brother's laptop and write about the joys of my "adventures". (No I really wont' be stealing) Hopefully, I won't be boring. No, I PROMISE you it won't be boring. I'll have pictures up of whatever I come across. Here's an example of a typical entry about my Filipino life (just for kicks):
Today, I witnessed something you've never come across. We waited for an hour to move a mile due to the incredible traffic that we all have to learn to ignore. Then, out of nowhere, the driver went onto the left side of the road where there is very little traffic. He DROVE on the left side of the road. I was so sure that I was a goner. The driver had a very strategic...er...strategy. He pretended to be parked on the road and slowly inched his way so not to be noticed that the car was indeed driving on the wrong side of the road. Clever, eh? Later at night, I decided to go to the "fitness center" at the place I'm staying at to keep up with my indoor track activities. There, I decided to be mischievous. I started talking to someone in Spanish. I claimed to be frustrated at the treadmill because I could not read English or Tagalog. I said, "YO QUIERO CORRER, PERO YO NO HABLO FILIPINO o INGLES! AYUDAME, POR FAVOR! YO QUIERO COMER MUCHOS PIZZAS Y VOY AL CEMENTARIO. ESPERO QUE MIS ZAPATOS SON NUEVOS Y ROJOS! TE GUSTA LA MESA?" The guy looked very confused, so I said it slower. Then, when I thought that it was getting funny, he started talking in Spanish....
Yeah. True story about the driver part...who was actually the driver of the van I go to and from school in.
Word/Phrase of the Day: Pahiram naman ng pera. - Loan money to me. (informal)
This is a jeepney:

Yes, they're really decorated like that. I'm looking forward to riding the jeepney.

HOLY SNOW DAY!!!!!
Yes marielle, there is a monster snow storm heading our way and we have a snow day! however it hasnt started snowing yet...
So yesterday, we just filled out another one of those sin cos tan tables, this time with COLORED pencils!!!! we were supposed to have a quiz in math today but, snow stopped that little endeavor. Spanish we had that Don Quixote quiz... as usual (for me) some was hard and other questions were easy. Bio was so stupid. Each horse shoe had a process (we had photorespiration) and we had to do a mime presentation of with paper cut outs that we made.... it was weird. History, we did take notes, but since it is a snow day, i dont have my notes. but once i get them i will e mail them to you.
So wherever you are in the world right now marielle, whether its somewhere over the pacific or in warm Manila where snow would be absurd, you will see this sometime...
